As the holidays come to an end and you settle back into your daily routine, you may be looking for fun in the coming months. Kent State Alumni has you covered with new events that offer something for everyone. Whether it be swaying to the tunes of The Cleveland Orchestra, hitting the ice rink with family or friends, gaining new career skills or cheering on a favorite sports team, these events are great ways to stay connected to your alma mater.
“We are very excited for the upcoming year," says Jennifer Arnold, executive director of events. “We have a variety of events planned, both on and off campus. We understand being physically present at our events is not always possible, so we also host online events to connect with alumni across the globe.â€
And as an added bonus, each event registration comes with a contribution to a scholarship fund supporting Kent State students. Here’s a sneak peak at new and entertaining events, both in person and online, starting this month:
Kent State Spirit Day at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Friday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
Cleveland, OH
Cheer on the Cleveland Cavaliers as they take on the Golden State Warriors. Before the game, join us at a reception in the arena’s Loudville Budweiser Brew House.
Alumni Night Out with The Cleveland Orchestra
Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m.
Miami, FL
One of the most admired symphony orchestras is traveling to Miami to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. With your ticket purchase, you’ll receive exclusive access to a preshow alumni reception where you can meet Golden Flashes in the area while enjoying heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.

Bring your family and friends for a fun night on the rink! Skate the night away under the stars while listening to Kent State’s acapella group sing uplifting tunes for the season.

Bunnies and Brews

Join us during spring break for our first glow-in-the-dark egg hunt. Tickets include an adults-only reception featuring Kent State’s official craft beer and an egg hunt after sunset on Front Campus. Gather a dozen eggs and find out if you’ve chosen any that contain an amazing prize. It’s sure to be an egg-cellent time!

Kent State Spirit Day with the Pittsburgh Penguins
Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m.
Pittsburgh, PA
Cheer for the Pens, Golden Flash style. The day will include a private pregame reception at the Cambria Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh from 1–2:30 p.m., followed by the game at 3 p.m. as the Penguins take on the Boston Bruins.
