Pharmacology

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Pharmacology Graduate Program is housed within the School of Biomedical Sciences and enrolls a select group of graduate student interested in research-based careers in pharmacology.

The Master of Science and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences in Pharmacology provides substantial opportunity to conduct research in molecular targeting, drug design, and drug delivery in developing new approaches to treat disease. The multidisciplinary program is a balance of classroom and laboratory work and involves faculty at NEOMED and Â鶹´«Ã½. Strong research foci exist in the areas of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative and blood brain barrier pharmacology. Interdisciplinary approaches to research and theoretical problems are strongly emphasized. Our faculty and facilities are outstanding and provide a first-rate training program for young scientists interested in research careers in this discipline.

Resources

The multi-departmental structure of the Pharmacology program provides an outstanding training environment to pursue research careers in pharmacology under the tutelage of a diverse group of research faculty. This includes access to state-of-the-art resources for studies related to:

  • pharmacologyCell and tissue culture; microscopy and cellular imaging; biochemical, cellular and molecular approaches; electrophysiology; echocardiography and ultrasound imaging, as well as whole animal studies including in vivo animal models of diseases.
