KENT, Ohio 鈥 The Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship will host the 47th Annual Meonske Professional Development Conference April 27-28 at the 麻豆传媒 Student Center Kiva.
The annual conference provides attendees with an opportunity to learn and network with other accounting and finance professionals. The conference is named for 麻豆传媒 Professor Emeritus Norman Meonske, the conference founder.
This year鈥檚 event will feature engaging sessions on a variety of timely topics for accounting and finance professionals. It provides two days of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit. Early registration for the conference is $210 per day. Deadline for early registration is Tuesday, April 18. Late registration begins Wednesday, April 19 and the cost is $260 per day per person. Parking and lunch are provided.
A broad range of topics will be covered throughout the two days. Participants will benefit from a thoughtful exploration of current issues and future trends impacting the profession.
On Thursday, April 27, Tim Williams, senior manager in Deloitte鈥檚 human capital practice, will open the event with a presentation on 鈥淭he Future of Work in Accounting and Finance鈥 Tim Gearty will expand on this topic, discussing 鈥淓mbracing Rapid Technology Change: Leading Virtual Teams.鈥
Lunch on Thursday will feature an OSCPA update from Kyle Bickhart, COO and Rebecca Hixen, Director of Student and Young Professional Initiatives. They will discuss actions underway to address the shortage of accounting students.
Two concurrent tracks will be offered Thursday afternoon. The first track offers Professional Ethics - I & II, led by Tiffany Crosby, Chief Learning Officer, OSCPA (KSC Governance Chambers). The second track addresses two topics: a panel discussion on Constructive and Effective Audit Relationships and presentations on Navigating Today鈥檚 Dynamic Global Tax Environment. The audit panelists include Ron Marcin, Partner, KPMG; Joseph Nejman, Senior Director - Internal Audit and Compliance, STERIS Corporation, and Ron Lewis, SVP Assistant Corporate Controller, KeyBank. The tax presentations feature Jenelle Wolfe, Director - International Tax Strategy, Eaton Corp. and Brandon Nett, Managing Director - Transaction Advisory Services, Kroll.
On Friday, April 28, the day opens with a financial reporting panel discussion. Panelists from the SEC, FASB and Big 4 firms will discuss the latest regulations and their practical application to the world of financial reporting. The panel will include Marsha Hunt, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Carlton Tartar, Associate Chief Accountant, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Kyle Moffatt, Partner, PwC. The discussion will be moderated by Patrick Gilmore, Partner, Deloitte.
Lunch on Friday features Robert "Cujo" Teschner, a former F-15 鈥淓agle鈥 instructor at the prestigious U.S. Air Force Weapons School 鈥 the Air Force 鈥淭op Gun鈥 program. Teschner will discuss how high-performance teams can organize to win in the midst of constant disruption.
Veronica Cook-Euell kicks off Friday鈥檚 afternoon sessions with a presentation on Leveraging Supplier Diversity. The conference wraps up with a panel discussion on Building an Inclusive Profession.
New to the conference this year is a special "3-for-free" invitation for area educators - register for the conference and bring three students on Thursday, April 27 at no additional charge. The day will conclude with a networking reception for students and professionals.
