The School of Communication Studies is thrilled to announce the launch of a Colloquium Series – three to four lectures per semester, given by a wide array of faculty and graduate students from the School of Communication Studies, from throughout the university, and from throughout the country.
The series aims to achieve two goals. First, the Colloquium Series strives to foster intellectual and collaborative exchange among a diverse range of faculty and graduate students by cultivating thoughtful and engaging discussions about complex social phenomena. Second, the Colloquium Series seeks to help members of our community stay informed about and connected to research conducted beyond our disciplinary and institutional borders. We will do this by inviting scholars from across Kent State and from across the country to participate.
The Colloquium will be on the first Friday of each month from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. in Taylor Hall Rm. 146 and will include a presentation of research then a Q&A session with the audience.

Friday, February 6
Dr. Jeff Child will present "Social Media, Communication, and Effective Privacy Management: An Exploration of Family Interaction through Facebook and about Facebook Content"
Friday, March 6
Drs. Mei-Chen Lin and Paul Haridakis will present "The importance of Intergroup Identity in explaining outcomes of media use during a U.S. Presidential Campaign: A Collaborative Study"
Friday, April 3
Dr. Chance York, from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will present "The Nasty (and Engaged) Citizen: Associations between Media Use, Political Incivility, and Political Participation."
