Kent State Now Offers 100% Online Hospitality and Tourism Master's Degree

Â鶹´«Ã½'s Hospitality and Event Management program, in partnership with the Recreation, Park & Tourism Management program, now offers a 100% online joint master's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM).

The online HTM Master of Science program is a 3-semester, cohort-based curriculum program, which allows students to complete their education in as little as one year. The program provides an integrated graduate education and allows students to focus on regional, national, and global implications of the industry. Courses are taught by renowned faculty members from the hospitality, recreation and tourism fields.

“The program is taught by a team of international faculty, all of whom are full-time professors at Kent State. This means that we are fully devoted to our students,†said Andy Lepp, Ph.D., program faculty member. “Additionally, we teach from a global perspective on the hospitality and tourism industry while simultaneously offering a deep knowledge of the local industry here in Northeast Ohio.â€

The program’s curriculum combines specialty classes in hospitality and business management, preparing graduates for leadership positions in restaurants, hotels, conference centers, country clubs and other hospitality venues. Program faculty aim to make the program accessible to industry leaders who wish to upgrade their skill sets as they prepare for their own career development, as well as recent graduates looking to extend their knowledge of the industry.

“The hospitality and tourism industry is facing a new normal in the post-COVID stage,†said program coordinator, Seon Jeong (Ally) Lee, Ph.D. “Based on the optimistic view of the hospitality and tourism industry, our online curriculum provides our students [a foundation] so that they can be prepared to adjust and develop their own managerial and operational skills in response to the new normal.â€
