Progress continues on the development of a comprehensive facilities master plan for Â鶹´«Ã½. Representatives from SmithGroupJJR, the consultant selected for development of the master plan, will provide an update on the planning process and share emerging themes of the plan at two open sessions on Monday, Oct. 2.
The first session will be held from 3-5 p.m. in Room 310 of the Kent Student Center for faculty, staff and students. A similar presentation for the city of Kent community will take place that evening from 6-8 p.m. in Kent City Council Chambers, located in the lower level of the Kent Fire Department at 320 S. Depeyster St. in Kent.
The facilities master plan will guide the alignment of university resources and capital investments with the objectives set forth in the university’s strategic roadmap. The planning process began in January with the goal of identifying a 10-year vision for the Kent Campus.
Input from the university’s stakeholders has been an important step in the master plan development. Representatives from SmithGroupJJR spent several months earlier this year soliciting ideas from the university and the local community. Approximately 2,500 comments have been submitted, either through in-person focus groups or the interactive website.
