Summit Street Construction Update: Two-way Traffic Resumes in Part of Project Area

Beginning Tuesday, July 5, two-way traffic will resume in the construction area from East Campus Center Drive to Whitehall Boulevard. That section of roadway had been reduced to one-way, eastbound traffic since early March as part of the Summit Street: Building a Better Way Improvement Project.

One-way, one-lane eastbound traffic will continue on Summit Street, from Fraternity Circle to East Campus Center Drive. The Johnston Drive intersection continues to be closed while work continues on the first roundabout. Additionally, the north end of Ted Boyd Drive will now be closed, meaning the only entrance to the Student Recreation and Wellness Center is from the south end of Ted Boyd Drive, via Campus Center Drive.

With these changes, PARTA will be adjusting its service for the Stadium Loop route over the next few weeks. Please check the website for the latest updates.

Information about the project can be found at www.kent.edu/summitstreet. Questions about the construction project should be sent to summitst@kent.edu or call the city of Kent’s Division of Engineering at 330-678-8106.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Â鶹´«Ã½ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
