Reuter Fellowship in Developmental Sciences

The Jeanette and Louis Reuter Fellowship in Developmental Sciences is awarded in memory of Jeanette Reuter to outstanding doctoral students contributing to and studying in the area of human development across the lifespan (i.e., infants, children, adolescents, and adults). The Reuter Fellowship provides recipients with an academic year non-service appointment to allow for full-time work on the dissertation. Normally, one fellowship is awarded each year.

Criteria:

  • Must be a currently enrolled full-time doctoral student.
  • Admitted to candidacy by date of application.
  • Enrollment in Dissertation I or II.
  • Study on a topic directly bearing on human development.
  • Outstanding scholarship.
  • Excellent academic record, including a minimum graduate GPA of 3.50.

Award:

Recipients receive a non-service fellowship appointment for the academic year in the amount of $12,000.

Application and Selection Processes:

Submit electronic application by February 15 for consideration for the following year. The completed application should include a scholarship statement, a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume, and a letter of recommendation from a current Kent State faculty member. All materials must be received by the deadline.

Applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of faculty representing various ranks and disciplines. Recipients are selected by the Dean of the Graduate College.
