Kent State Professor Received Grant From Andy Warhol Foundation

Assistant Professor, Joseph Underwood, received an Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant for his book examining the content of a Senegalese contemporary art exhibition.

Dr. Joseph Underwood selected as Tyson Scholar

Assistant professor of art history and co-curator of the "We the People" exhibition, Dr. Joseph Underwood, was selected through an international competition for the Tyson Scholars Program at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art for the spring of 2020.

SENEGAL EXHIBIT EVENT

Jan. 17 - Feb. 22, 2019

Featuring work created in the last ten years, this exhibition offers a wide panorama of art practice from the perspective of artists who uncover aspects of their own identity as they reflect on contemporary life in Senegal. Collectively, their work acts as a portrait of how one African country can inspire creative minds, balancing universal questions with local characteristics.

COMING TOGETHER: SENEGALESE  ART AND LITERATURE

Join small groups to walk the exhibit with Dr. Joseph Underwood, the curator of the exhibition, and Dr. Babacar M'Baye, expert in Senegalese literature.

In response to the current budget proposal to completely defund the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities, PEN America asked Members to share their experiences with the NEA or NEH.
