Dr. Christina Dorr has been an adjunct instructor for Kent State’s iSchool since 2006. She graduated from OSU with a Ph.D. in education and from SUNY Albany with an M.L.S. She's completed her 30th year as a Media Specialist in June 2020, and has retired from that part of her professional life. She has boasting rights for having taught students from preschool to graduate school. 

Some of Dorr’s professional interests include multicultural children’s literature, emergent literacy, educational standards, and educational technology. She's written and presented on topics of school librarianship, and children's and young adult literature for over 25 years, including having published two books with Liz Deskins: LGBTQAI+ Books for Children and Teens: Providing a Window for All (ALA Publications, 2018) and Linking Picture Book Biographies to National Content Standards: 200+ Lives to Explore (Libraries Unlimited, 2015). Her third book, The Best Award-Winning Children’s Books and Power Strategies for Using them in Your Program, published through the Bureau of Education and Research, was released November 2020. Her fourth book, From Poverty to Possibility: Serving Children and Teens in Generational Poverty Through Literature, will be released September 2021 through ALA Publications. She also has served on several state and national book award committees, most recently as a member of the 2020 Caldecott Committee through American Library Association.
