The Kent State LGBTQ+ Center supports an inclusive environment on all KSU campuses, advocates for all individuals and campus and community groups based on sexual and gender identity, maintains organizational capacity so that the work of the Center is efficient and effective, and builds community and a sense of belonging to support an inclusive environment.
The center is a welcoming environment to LGBTQ students and their allies. The informed staff strives to educate the campus community about sexual orientation and gender identity to ensure 鶹ý remains a safe space for all students.
The LGBTQ+ Center is so excited to be a part of Kent State’s “Giving Tuesday” month, which starts Nov. 1 and goes through Dec. 3.
This month, we're asking for your help in supporting the Kent State LGBTQ+ Emergency Fund, which assists LGBTQ+ students who are in financial crisis, oftentimes as a result of being disowned after coming out to family. This emergency fund is a safety net for LGBTQ+ students, so they can reach their educational goals, specifically reaching graduation, which likely wouldn’t be possible without assistance through this fund. Each year the Center helps nearly 50 students through this fund, distributing over $25,000. The fund is nearing a critically low amount, so please consider donating to help us keep this fund replenished so no student is turned away.
During these challenging times, LGBTQ+ students are in even greater need, including emotional support and getting connected to others in the LGBTQ+ community. With your generosity, we're able to provide supports to our students so they can be successful and reach graduation.

Here are a few ways you can support this effort:
- For each 25 unique donors, contributing at least $25/each, we receive $500 as a ‘Participation Boost.’
- Nov. 12 - Triple your Gift Tuesday (until the match is exhausted) - last year ran out at 7am! This is a good day for donations of large amounts.
- Dec. 3 - Giving Tuesday (actual day) - donations are matched (up to $1k) until cap runs out (ran out last year around 10am). This is also a good day for donations of large amounts.
Thanks so much for your support of this exciting opportunity! Keep watching our listserv emails and social media for information on our fund and stories about the impact of your contribution.
