Faculty and College Recognition

 

Loretta Aller, PhD, RN, CHSE, passed the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification examination and earned her CHSE credential from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Loretta Aller, PhD, RN, CHSE, was selected as an INACSL Research Fellow by the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation & Learning and named Chair of the Patients Safety Special Interest Group within the INACSL.

Taryn Burhanna, MSN, APRN, NP-C, was honored with the national 2021 DAISY Faculty Award.

Taryn Burhanna, MSN, APRN, NP-C, was selected as a SOURCE Services-Learning Academy Fellow by the Johns Hopkins University Schools of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine.

Kimberly Cleveland, JD, MSN, RN, C-MBC, passed her dissertation proposal defense with the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

Tracy Dodson, PhD, MSN, RN, successfully defended her dissertation, Examining the Impact of Expert Modeling Videos on Nursing Student’s Simulation Competency, and graduated with her PhD from the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

Melissa Dyer, PhD, MBA, MSN, RN, successfully defended her dissertation and graduated with a PhD in Health Policy.

Krista Hawkins, MSN, RN, received an honorable mention for the national 2021 DAISY Faculty Award.

Jeremy Jarzembak, MA, BSN, BS, RN, passed his PhD comprehensive examinations.

Versie Johnson-Mallard, PhD, RN, APRN, FAANP, FAAN, received the 2022 Dorothy M. Smith Nursing Leadership Award for Excellence in Diversity from the University of Florida College of Nursing.

Mary Kutchin, MSN, RN, CNS, was appointed to a steering committee of faculty, administrators, and students to re-envision the Kent Core, the university’s general education program.

Kerry Myers, MSN, RN, received an honorable mention for the national 2021 DAISY Faculty Award.

Pamela Rafferty-Semon, MSN-ED, RN, CHES, passed the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification examination and earned CHES certification from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

Janet Reed, PhD, MSN, RN, CMSRN, successfully defended her dissertation, Exploring the Impact of Simulation Anxiety on Clinical Judgement for Nursing Students, and graduated with her PhD in Educational Technology from the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

Jim Tudhope, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, NPD-BC, will serve as Education Chair Elect for the Association of Post Graduate APRN Programs (APGAP).

New Grant Awards

Dr. Chrissy Kauth and Lyndy Beckley received grant funding from the Stark Community Foundation and a matching grant from the North Canton Medical Foundation to add a mechanical ventilator to the Stark campus simulation lab.

Dr. Denise Pacholski was awarded an OhioLINK Open Educational Resource (OER) Course Redesign Grant. This pilot program helps faculty learn about using openly li-censed or other affordable course content for their high enrollment courses.

Drs. Jim Tudhope and Lisa Onesko received grant funding from Peg’s Foundation for their project, Expanding the Impact of PHM APRNs in Northeast Ohio, to expand and maintain the number of PMHNPs in northeast Ohio.

 

New Certifications

Kimberly DePaul, MSN, RNC-OB, CNE, CNE-cl and Lynne Walker, MSN, RNC-NIC, CNE recently passed the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator® (CHSE®) examination.
