Tracy M. Dodson, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CEN
Biography
I am a passionate nurse educator dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between theory and practice. My research focuses on behavioral modeling, where I teach through exemplar demonstration. I believe that students learn best when they are shown how to translate theory into practice, rather than simply being expected to do it. My teaching strategies center on demonstrating expectations for exemplar nursing behaviors, followed by student return demonstrations to solidify their learning.
I enjoy creating interactive games for learning and incorporating generative AI into the classroom through image generation to provide students with contextualized patient care scenarios. My contributions to nursing education have earned me two platinum teaching recognition awards on a national level. I’ve also been honored with the Daisy Award, a student-nominated recognition for excellence in teaching.
As a Christian educator, I strive to support and encourage all students, welcoming them to come to me as needed. Beyond education, I am actively involved in my community as a volunteer with the Red Cross of Heartland, Stark, & Muskingum Lakes, and I serve on my church board.
