Annual Sick Leave Conversion Period Coming Soon!

The annual sick leave conversion for eligible staff employees will take place Sept. 1 through Sept. 14. During this period, eligible classified and unclassified employees with a continuing appointment may convert accrued sick leave to vacation per administrative policy 3342-6-11.2.

Eligible full-time employees who have a balance of at least 500 hours of sick leave may convert:

  • A maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation; or
  • A combined maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation and personal leave.

Eligible part-time employees who have a balance of at least 250 hours may convert:

  • A maximum of three days (24 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation; or
  • A combined maximum of three days (24 hours) per fiscal year of vacation and personal leave.

Eligible classified employees represented by AFSCME who have a balance of at least 500 hours of sick leave may convert a maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation.

The conversion process should be completed online through . The system will tell you how much sick and vacation leave you currently have and how much you are eligible to convert. With the electronic process, employees will receive a confirmation email and will also see the conversion reflected immediately in their  leave balances.

Â鶹´«Ã½'s holiday closure for 2024 will begin Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. All offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Employees not eligible for the paid leave include student employees, classified temporary staff, temporary agency staff, short-term unclassified appointments, unclassified intermittent appointments and employees in a lay-off status. More information on the holiday schedule, including how employees should report time during that period, will be available later this month.

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Â鶹´«Ã½ created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.
