Do Kent State employees qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program?

Employees of Â鶹´«Ã½ may qualify for participation in the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Under this program, full-time employees can apply for forgiveness from certain types of student loans, possibly reducing or eliminating their debt. For additional information and forms, please access the loan forgiveness website at .

Please contact your loan servicer to determine your eligibility under this program. Once your paperwork is completed, forward the documents for employment verification to HR Records (for staff members) or Academic Personnel (for faculty). Both offices are located in Heer Hall.

Â鶹´«Ã½'s holiday closure for 2024 will begin Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. All offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Employees not eligible for the paid leave include student employees, classified temporary staff, temporary agency staff, short-term unclassified appointments, unclassified intermittent appointments and employees in a lay-off status. More information on the holiday schedule, including how employees should report time during that period, will be available later this month.

Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Â鶹´«Ã½ created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.
