The grand prize winner of HR’s Employee Family and Friends Appreciation Days contest was crowned during a time out in the second half of the Kent vs. Akron basketball game.
The contestants, John Gape and Jared Englert – sons of KSU staffers Adda Gape and Michael Englert – were tasked with donning tropical-themed clothing at one end of the court before racing to the other end, where they had to sink a shot.
edged out his competitor and gave his mother a vacation getaway valued at $1,500. For his efforts, as a consolation prize for his father Michael.
