Participating students will submit a 15-20 minute script that will be judged by theatre professionals and faculty. The top five or six students will produce their plays for local audiences at the Kent Trumbull Theatre, April 22-24 and April 29-May 1. The deadline for consideration is Feb. 1, 2022. For competition rules, as well as more information, visit www.kent.edu/trumbull/theatre.
Theatre Scholarships
Students who want to continue studying theatre and earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Studies at Kent State Trumbull can compete for theatre scholarships. For the acting pathway, students will submit an audition video of two contrasting monologues. For the playwriting pathway, students will submit a 15-20 minute script (scripts submitted for the Young Playwrights Festival can be counted for this requirement). For the technical theatre pathway, students will present a technical portfolio detailing their work in the theatre. Up to six $2,000 renewable scholarships will be offered.
"We began offering the four-year degree in Theatre Studies a few years ago, and it continues to grow," Eric S. Kildow, professor and Theatre Director, said. "These scholarships and the Young Playwrights Festival are great ways to encourage students to follow their dreams."
