Join Us for Thursday's Blue, Gold & Grateful Activities - Kent Campus, 2021

THURSDAY, AUGUST 5, 2021

Dear Kent State Community members,

We have several exciting announcements to share with you regarding collaborations and activities in the Kent community - from theater tickets to the return of the Bowman Breakfast at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½.

Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) Open House
Stop by the SRWC today and utilize the facility free of charge for the entire day. Upon arrival, stop in the SRWC Pro Shop (located to the right when you first enter through the front doors) to get your free day pass. Fitness and Wellness Orientations will take place in the Fitness Suite from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us to learn about equipment, programs and services offered at the SRWC. Orientations will begin every 30 minutes starting at 11 a.m.

Also, faculty and staff can use the SRWC free during the Faculty & Staff REConnect Week Monday, Aug. 30 to Friday, Sept. 2. More details to come!

Free Concert
Hometown Bank presents The Michael Weber Show today, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Hometown Bank Plaza. The Michael Weber Show is an explosive rock band from Akron, Ohio. Band leader Michael Weber is a student at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ who has performed at hundreds of concerts and is owner and operator of Silver Swamp Recording Studio.

A Night at the Theater
Buy one ticket and get one free to see Altar Boyz at the Porthouse Theater Aug. 11-15. Altar Boyz is a foot-stomping, rafter-raising musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy band on the last night of their national β€œRaise the Praise” tour. The Boyz are five all-singing, all-dancing heartthrobs from Ohio: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham.

Bowman Breakfast Returns
The fall 2021 Bowman Breakfast will be held in person on Aug. 31. This year’s Bowman Breakfast guest speaker is Randale L. Richmond, Kent State’s new director of Athletics. For more than 55 years, leaders from ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ and the city of Kent have met over breakfast to foster successful collaboration between the university and the city for the semi-annual Bowman Breakfast. The breakfast brings together leaders from Kent State and the city of Kent in a forum designed to advance community issues and strengthen the town-gown relationship. Stay tuned for registration details!

A New Place to Skate
Kent’s already cool downtown just got a lot cooler! In a joint partnership with the City of Kent and ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½, a new outdoor ice-skating rink will open downtown for campus and community members. The new rink will be located on Erie Street between the Kent Hotel and the PARTA Parking Ramp and will be open Nov. 20 through the end of February.

We hope you will take advantage and enjoy as many of these activities as possible.
