Consider pledging to United Way of Portage County today. Kent State, as the largest non-profit employer in the county, is a critical source of resources for the impactful work of United Way. Needs continue to be unprecedented as Portage County navigates the impacts of COVID-19, and the current economic challenges faced by the community. Spikes have been seen for services in our community that surpassed pandemic levels to meet the needs for food, shelter and individual and family services.
United Way of Portage County funds 42 programs to help make our community strong and resilient. Your pledge, either new or renewed, makes a true difference in the lives of our neighbors, students and co-workers. Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration, Mark Polatajko, has stated “I have been a proud donor to United Way since June 1992. I see so much value in the services United Way provides to our local communities; specifically, in providing shelter to the homeless and feeding those challenged with food insecurity. My contributions directly support the community in which I work which I find so rewarding.”
Monies raised are used for local programming. Any donation you are able to make will be impactful, whether it be a monetary donation or a donation of your time volunteering at one of United Ways' many important programs.
Every year, Kent State volunteers donate hundreds of hours to help with the production of videos, creation of Literacy kits for close to 1300 children, and serving as interns, board and committee members and volunteers at Days of Service. Visit the for more information.
