University Counseling

The Counseling and Human Development Center

The Kent State Counseling and Human Development Center provides personal counseling and human development services to Kent State students, faculty, staff, family members, and to area residents.  Services provided include individual, couple, family, child, and group counseling for developmentally-related concerns. Counseling sessions are free to the Kent State Community and a nominal fee is charged to the public. Services are provided by master's and doctoral students preparing for professional licensure as clinical counselors. The Counseling Center is located in room 325 White Hall and is sponsored by the College of Education.  For additional information, call 330-672-2208.

Psychological Clinic

Housed within the Psychology department, the Psychology Clinic offers services to members of the university and local community. Services are provided by master's and doctoral students under the supervision of clinical faculty members who are licensed psychologist. Individuals who are having difficulties with depression or anxiety, relationship problems, feelings of low self-esteem or other personal or behavioral problems are encouraged to seek services from the clinic. The clinic is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and evening appointments are available. Appointments are required. Contact the clinic at 330-672-2372. 

Counseling and Psychological Services

DeWeese Health Center's Counseling and Psychological Services also offers comprehensive mental health services to the university community. Services include individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis intervention counseling, psychological testing, outreach programming and consultation services.  Students, faculty and staff who have concerns about a student or situation on campus involving mental health issues may contact Counseling and Psychological Services and ask to speak to one of the clinicians. Counseling and Psychological Services has someone available Monday through Friday to address emergencies and handle walk-in clients, although appointments are encouraged. In case of emergency during normal business hours, do not hesitate to stop by the clinic or call 330-672-2487.
