Porthouse Theatre Recognized by The Cleveland Critics Circle

2014 productions honored in costume design, choreography and acting

Kent, OH – The Cleveland Critics Circle recently honored Porthouse Theatre, 鶹ý’s outdoor, summer theatre on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, with several awards for accomplishments during the 2014 season. The Cleveland Critics Circle Awards recognize outstanding Cleveland area productions, performers, directors and designers who contribute to the professional theatre scene.

鶹ý associate professor S.Q. Campbell won the top prize for Best Costume Design for “My Fair Lady,” produced June 12-28, 2014.

Greg Violand, MFA ’14 received Superior Achievement in Acting recognition for his portrayal of Henry Higgins in “My Fair Lady.”

John R. Crawford, Dean of Kent State’s College of the Arts, received Superior Achievement recognition for his choreography of “My Fair Lady.”

Kent State assistant professor MaryAnn Black received Superior Achievement recognition for her choreography of “Oliver,” produced July 25-Aug. 10, 2014.
