Dear Â鶹´«Ã½ Faculty,
I am pleased to announce an opening for a Presidential Fellow to begin Fall Semester 2022. The Presidential Fellowship is designed to provide an opportunity for a mid-career and senior faculty to serve full time for at least two academic years advancing equity in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) fields at Kent State.
The Presidential Fellow will work with the divisions of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Academic Affairs; Research and Sponsored Programs; and the Office of the President in supporting the development of Kent State’s SEA Change action plan. SEA Change is an initiative of the American Association for the Advancement of Science where universities that are a part of the SEA Change program commit to effecting sustainable change related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Presidential Fellow will work with the newly formed SEA Change team, which is comprised of a diverse representation of faculty and staff across the university system working to develop and implement an action plan that will advance equity at Kent State. The Fellow will have professional development opportunities supported by the Office of the President and the sponsoring divisions and will receive their regular salary and benefits. The Fellow will retain their office space in their academic unit and will be provided office space and staff support related to the Fellowship. The Fellow will be selected by the Office of the President and the sponsoring divisions, will be released from six credits per semester and will continue to maintain a presence in their academic unit.
This opportunity is open to all full-time faculty. The Fellow must be a faculty member in a STEMM-related field and must be able to collect and analyze data, create written reports and communicate progress with university leadership and stakeholders.
Information about the application process includes the following:
- Applications will be accepted from all full-time (tenured/tenure-track and non-tenure track) faculty members.
- Applicants should submit a letter of interest and current vitae by June 15, 2022, to Brianna Molitor, project director in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, at diversity@kent.edu. The letter should describe the skills the individual will bring to this position and why the applicant is interested in serving as a Presidential Fellow.
- Applicants must also submit a letter signed by their academic unit administrator (department chair, school director, college dean or Regional Campus dean) and academic college dean, if applicable, that indicates support for the faculty.
Appointments will be announced at the beginning of the fall semester.
Sincerely,
Todd Diacon
President
