Quick Tip: Canvas Direct Login
Imagine this: Since lunch, you have been working diligently on inputting grades and commenting on assignment submissions in Canvas. Suddenly the screen refreshes and Canvas gives you an error that you’ve been away too long and you will need to log in again. Any changes you have made may not have been saved. Although it’s nearly time to wrap up work for the day, it looks like you will need to redo those hours of work.
Unfortunately, it’s a tale we hear too frequently – and hearing it once is too frequent, in our opinion.
Here is a tip from the RCID team to help you avoid getting unexpectedly logged out of Canvas. Instead of logging into Canvas via the icon in FlashLine, get into the habit of logging into Canvas directly at in a completely NEW browser session – one that you haven’t logged into any other KSU systems already. That way, the inactivity timer from FlashLine does not impact your Canvas login status.
If you are unsure if you are already logged into another KSU system, try opening an incognito/private window (CTL-SHFT–N in Google). This route requires a login each time as no data is saved between sessions.
