Quick Tip: New Analytics

The New Analytics tool allows instructors to view average course grades, course activity, and individual student participation and progress. Instructors can also use the tool to generate useful reports and communicate with students.
Uses for New Analytics:

How to use the New Analytics Tool:
- Click the “New Analytics†button located in the upper right corner on your Canvas course home page.

- The default view opens with the Course Grades tab enabled, displaying the Average Course Grade and a chart for each of the course assessments. By default, analytics selects all assignment types to display within the page [1]. Each assignment in the chart displays the appropriate icon for each visible assignment type [2]. To view additional assignments, click and drag the scrollbar [3].
- Hovering over the points on the chart will display the name of the assignment and clicking on a point will open the assignment statistics and an icon for student communication.
​ - Clicking on each of the category tabs populates the associated data and user interface.

- On the Weekly Online Activity tab, you can see page views and participation data for the student.
- In the Students tab, you can view the grades, course page views and participation for each student.
- The Reports tab can be used to create and download reports for missing assignments, late assignments, excused assignments, class roster, and course activity.
- The Online Attendance tab is for viewing an Online Attendance report.
