We’re kicking off this semester’s Quick Tips series by sharing a great new resource from the Kent State Online team.
These training courses are geared toward those teaching online courses, but most of the strategies are applicable to hybrid and face-to-face courses as well.
Design, Build, Teach Pathways
Introducing the new Design, Build, Teach Pathways, a series of asynchronous, self-paced Canvas courses that guide you through foundational concepts and best practices for online teaching. These courses have been designed to accommodate a variety of learning preferences with various options for participation.
Courses include:
Design: Introduction to Backward Design, Creating an Assessment Plan, Curating Content, and Organizing Your Course
Build: Starting Fresh in Canvas, Deploying Content Through Modules & Pages, Adding Activities and Assignments, Creating Groups and Group Activities, and Syllabus, Settings, and Review
Teach: Introduction to Online Teaching, Establishing Teaching Presence, Building Community, Communication Strategies and Tools, Grading and Providing Feedback, and Preparing Your Online Course
