Calculator Guidelines
What is a calculator accommodation?
A calculator accommodation provides the equal opportunity to demonstrate mathematical or quantitative reasoning skills for students with a disability that impacts basic math calculation, such as dyscalculia. Students who are eligible for this accommodation must follow the SAS accommodation request process and are expected to provide their own calculator. This accommodation applies in any class where students are being asked to perform math calculations. Students may not use their cell phone or other electronic device as a calculator unless approved by their instructor.
Students with this accommodation may utilize the calculator specified for the course with the following exceptions:
ALEKS math placement - only a four-function calculator is permitted.
Basic Algebra courses - only a four-function calculator is permitted.
Algebra for Calculus Boost Gateway exam - only a four-function calculator is permitted.
No calculator is permitted on specified portions of Basic Math Concepts 1 or Basic Math Concepts 1 Plus exams.
