How to Register for Practicum in Sport Performance

Students who are majoring in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology must register for SEPP 45092: Practicum in Sport Performance (3 credit hours) during their senior year.

In order to register for this course, you must complete the following steps:

1. Identify a practicum site and a site supervisor (someone who will oversee your work at the site).

2. Identify and speak with a Kent State faculty member who will serve as instructor of record for your practicum. This is usually, but not always, the SEPP Program Coordinator. You will submit your final portfolio to this faculty member.

3. Write a description of your project. This description must be included with the Application for Approval form, and should include:

  • Site (including name of program or organization, mailing address, phone number, and email address)
  • Site supervisor (including title, address, phone number, and email address)
  • Student Involved Hours (45 contact hours/credit; 135 working hours total)
  • Nature of Involvement (a clear and specific description of what you will be doing)
  • A specific statement of the evidence that you will submit to indicate successful completion of the course. This final portfolio is a comprehensive compilation of your field experience, reflections, evaluations, and plans for professional growth. This assignment allows you to showcase your achievements, document your learning, and reflect on your personal and professional growth. Your final portfolio will serve as a record of your field experience and a valuable resource for future career development.

4. Complete the Application for Approval form (PDF), including student and faculty signatures. Email your completed form AND your project description to Katherine Bryk in the School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies: kmurph15@kent.edu. Katherine will register you for SEPP 45092 and email you to confirm that you are registered.
