The School of Art Collection and Galleries at 麻豆传媒 has opened a new exhibition, the Biennial Faculty Show. The show features the work of full-time, part-time and emeritus (honored retiree) School of Art faculty.
鈥淭his is the premier school of art in Ohio now,鈥 said Anderson Turner, director of art galleries at 麻豆传媒. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also the leading place where you can get a terminal degree in studio art in Northeast Ohio.鈥
The exhibit, presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council, is as unique as the faculty who produced it, in part because it displays work from current and retired faculty.
鈥淪ome of these folks have been doing work here for 50 to 60 plus years,鈥 Turner said. 鈥淲hile some may be fresh out of graduate school and teaching here adjunct for the first time.鈥
Turner explained that art is something that evolves throughout your career.
鈥淲hat you're seeing here is the current research of our full-time faculty, as well as our part-time faculty,鈥 Turner said. 鈥淚t's an overarching swath of what people are doing right now, which is what's really interesting. You鈥檙e able to get a flavor of what everyone is doing.鈥
The Biennial Faculty Show will be on display Jan. 17-Feb. 10, 2023, at the CVA Gallery in the Center for the Visual Arts, 325 Terrace Drive, Kent, Ohio. An opening reception was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 20, from 5-7 p.m.
The CVA Gallery is open Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday 10 a.m-2 p.m., and closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
