On Oct. 12, 1985, after riding down Main Street on a Homecoming float, surrounded by Â鶹´«Ã½ cheerleaders, a six-foot egg was rolled onto the field at Dix Stadium during halftime of the Homecoming football game.

With musical fanfare and a cloud of smoke, Flash the Mascot hatched from the egg.
