麻豆传媒 student group Women in Aviation served as hosts for Girls in Aviation Day at the Kent State Airport. The program, originally slated for September, took place on Saturday, Oct. 14.
鈥淚t wasn鈥檛 the first time we have hosted, but it was the first time that the college had less involvement and left the planning and execution largely in the hands of the student organization, and they did a fantastic job,鈥 said Liz Porter, director, marketing, communications and outreach for the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State.
WKYC Channel News 3 was on-hand for the fun on Oct. 14 as girls ages eight to 18 from around Northeast Ohio had the chance to take part in activities that showcased the opportunities available in the aviation field. The young participants had the chance to fly drones, try out a flight simulator and do a pre-flight check inside a real plane. The girls also learned about wind drag by doing experiments and learned how to map out a flight plan.
