IN A FLASH: A Faculty Silver Medalist

David Thal, Pan-American Games Silver Medalist

Kent State College of Architecture and Environmental Design faculty member David Thal (pictured on the far left) won a silver medal in pickleball in the 2024 Pan-American Master Games. This year’s event was hosted in Cleveland on July 12-21, 2024.

The Pan-American Games are a multi-sport competition that takes place every four years in the year before the Summer Olympics. The games feature thousands of athletes from countries in the Americas, including North and South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Thal is an adjunct professor and coordinator of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design's education-abroad program. Kristy Antrobius, marketing communications and public relations director for the college, said, "His pickleball team was undefeated on day one. They won their pre-medal match, which qualified them for the final match where they walked away with the silver medal!"

Thal is a senior associate at Weber Murphy Fox Inc., an integrated services/delivery provider offering architecture, interiors, construction management, planning and landscape architecture.
