Chef Kenny Gilbert is an author, a restaurant owner and the creator of his own line of spices. University Culinary Services welcomed him to campus to prepare and serve a few of his signature southern-style dishes on April 25 at Eastway Center. Gilbert has appeared on CBS Saturday Morning, The Today Show, HGTV, Midnight Feast, Cutthroat Kitchen, and has served as a judge on Chopped Junior. He competed on Top Chef and on Beat Bobby Flay, where he BEAT Bobby Flay.
For dinner on Thursday, Gilbert prepared collard green salad, oxtail pepperpot and Bajan-style creole fish. Oprah Winfrey counts Gilbert among her preferred personal chefs and he has catered her holiday parties. Kent State students were happy to join her on the long list of people who have enjoyed his cooking.
