Partnership. Climate. Inclusion. These are the focus areas of 鶹ý’s Division for Student Affairs (DSA).
For the third consecutive year, the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and the publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education have named Kent State one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs.
Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs (MPPWSA) is a national recognition that celebrates student affairs workplaces that are committed to staff work-life balance, inclusive excellence and professional development.
“To be named to the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs list for the third year in a row signals that our laser focus on the staff experience matters and that we are making progress on achieving a values-driven workplace,” Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., senior vice president for Student Affairs, said.
The ACPA and Diverse used a web-based survey assessing Kent State’s workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment to recognize the university again in 2023 with this national honor.
The division’s intentional focus on these key areas and their relation to the university, regional and national environment is critical for this award but more importantly to the work being done here.
“The Division of Student Affairs at Kent State continues to listen, and be responsive, to the needs of its workforce to shape a positive and inclusive experience,” Hylton said. “We partner across our university to develop and cultivate a workplace climate that enables our staff to be successful in serving our students and university community.”
DSA has more than 25 departments with staff committed to supporting students both in and outside of the classroom. DSA works to enhance students’ educational experiences at Kent State to enable student success.
“Now, more than ever, living our institutional values of diversity, equity and inclusion is paramount to responding to the grand challenges we face as a society,” Hylton said.
