For 19 years, Â鶹´«Ã½ student-athletes have always been able to count on one fan to be there to cheer them on at every event. That fan is Heather Strittmatter.
Strittmatter is known for attending athletic events hosted at Kent State and for her loud, encouraging nature. As everyone who knows her says, “You hear her before you see her.â€
Her dedication to Kent State athletics has even earned her the title of Super Fan over the many years. All of the coaches, athletes and fans know Strittmatter and love her embodiment of what it means to be a Golden Flashes supporter, so much so that Strittmatter is considered part of the Kent State family.
recently reported on the renovation project for the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center, for which Kent State is currently in the process of fundraising. The renovations will include updates to the locker rooms, sound and lighting, and other aspects of the MAC Center. The most notable upgrade, however, will be adding a commemorative tag to the spot where Strittmatter stands and cheers at every game in the MAC Center.
The goal is to dedicate the commemorative spot, which is already designed, for Strittmatter’s 50th birthday at the beginning of the next athletic season.
As Randale L. Richmond, Kent State’s vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, told News 5 Cleveland, “She’s dedicated more than anybody else to supporting these teams. It doesn’t matter the weather, it doesn’t matter the time, it doesn’t matter the sport. She loves them all the same, and she cares all the same.â€
