Michael Daniels, Ph.D., director of the E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center (SMC); Assistant Director Ilianna Velez; and student assistant and artist Ariana Bliss unveiled a recently completed mural at the SMC Satellite Space in the Tri-Towers residence hall complex, Room 104.

Bliss, who is graduating in May with a degree in studio arts with a concentration in painting, has been working on this mural throughout this academic year and has named it “Legacy.”
Bliss said that the mural highlights a student’s journey through the SMC from their first year participating in Kupita/Transiciones (K/T) through Karama Ya Wahitimu/Celebracion de los Graduados (a pre-commencement celebration hosted by the SMC).

The SMC provides advocacy, mentoring, guidance, education and other support necessary for educational retention and degree completion. Additionally, the SMC provides direct support services for students and training for faculty and staff.
The recently added SMC Satellite Space, located in the Tri-Towers Rotunda, can hold up to 40 people. Student organizations can request to use this space by emailing the SMC smc@kent.edu.
