Multiple buildings on 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Kent Campus were affected Tuesday morning by a strong odor of natural gas, leading some employees and students to vacate their buildings.
Kent State Police said gas crews are completing a scheduled bleeding of gas lines, which is causing the smell. Gas crews said winds blowing toward campus are contributing the strong smell on campus. 鈥淏leeding gas lines鈥 is the intentional release of trapped air from a gas line by opening a specific valve, allowing the gas to flow and push out the air.
Crews have completed their work for the day, and the odor should begin to dissipate. Additional work on the lines is expected later this week.
Classes remain in session, and the university remains open.
