It was a lucky day for a group of design students at the (PUCPR), in Curitiba, Brazil, when they headed outside for a project in environmental portrait photography, and ran into Kent State senior photographer Bob Christy.
Christy, BS '95, MA '22, is part of a team from University Marketing and Communications that is visiting PUCPR to gather video, images and stories for Kent State's American Academy, a dual-enrollment program offered jointly by the two universities. This partnership offers students the opportunity to earn an associate degree in Brazil and then come to the Kent Campus to complete a bachelor’s degree, or to do the same in Brazil.
While on the main part of campus, Christy noticed three or four groups of students with cameras. He walked up to one group of students, introduced himself and asked if they needed help. For the second group he approached, "I kind of walked up behind them and asked if they needed a professional photographer," Christy said. "They laughed, and I spent time helping them, too."
Christy was able to share his wealth of experience and assist them in their work with a generous dose of tips, demos and helpful observations.
