Halloween is just around the corner, which means 鶹ý students are on the hunt for the perfect Halloween costume. In what was once a discount store, the spirit of Halloween is alive and well. The pop-up story Spirit Halloween is here to help students get their nick-of-time broomsticks, fangs and more.
Spirit Halloween is a seasonal retailer that opens pop-up shops around the country to supply Americans with their every Halloween need. This year, a Spirit Halloween store has opened in Kent at 1416 S. Water St.
With Halloween being just days away, Kent State students are flocking to the store to find their just-in-time costumes for the holiday. Lines late into Thursday stretched down the front of the building for some night-time spirit.
“I’m here hoping for a last-minute costume piecing together because I really didn’t plan this in advance,” Kayla Gray, a senior zoology major said. Gray hoped to find pieces to put together a vampire ensemble for this Halloween.
Waiting until the “dead”line was a common theme among student shoppers.
“I’m here because I’m a last-minute shopper, and I need a costume for tonight,” Samira Dadich, a junior criminology and justice studies major, said. It’s common for students to have multiple Halloween costumes for the weekend, and, though Dadich had a costume planned for Saturday, she still needed one for Friday night.
Couple Malaki Gray, a sophomore journalism major, and Emma Schweitzer, a sophomore archaeology major, had their costumes planned, Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood, respectively, but stopped by the store to pick up an 11th-hour Halloween costume for Friday night.
“We came here for his frisbee tournament costume, which is Spiderman,” Schweitzer said.
