Everyone’s favorite event is back. 鶹ý Libraries will host its seventh annual Stress-Free Zone on Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7. The event is open to students, staff and faculty from 3-5 p.m. in the Garden Room on the first floor of University Library.
Stress-Free Zone aims to take care of students by providing them this necessary break.
“Stress-Free Zone gives students a mental break from studying,” said Cynthia Williams, director of marketing, communications and public relations for University Libraries. “Studies have shown it is important to take a break from studying.”
The most popular aspect of Stress-Free Zone is the appearance from .
“The dogs provide calmness, which alleviates pressure put on the brain and allows students to return more refreshed to their studies,” Ms. Williams said. “The Stress-Free Zone event is our way of contributing to students’ success. We are here for students and know that grades are a viable reflection on you. We want to provide support to get students the best grades possible, and we think adding a puppy or two will help that.
“It’s good for the owners and dogs, as well as the students,” Ms. Williams continued. “This event provides them the opportunity to be present on campus and be around students.”
By popular demand, Stress-Free Zone will offer a Fortnite tournament again this semester. The location of the tournament will be in Room 152, and it will be offered for three hours, beginning at 2 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.
The Stress-Free Zone event will also feature snacks and beverages, as well as freshly popped popcorn.
The library, a central location for people who study, was recently chosen as the No. 1 Best Place to Study for the seventh consecutive year by KentWired.com voters. The library will be open 24/7 the week before and during finals.
“We want to provide as many resources as possible to help students do well on their exams,” Ms. Williams said.
