(Warren, OH) The Animal Welfare League (AWL) of Trumbull County and Â鶹´«Ã½ at Trumbull are teaming up in October to find homes for sheltered dogs and cats.
The Adopt-A-Dog (or Cat) social media campaign will feature a different dog or cat each day. Animal photos will be posted on Facebook and Instagram.
"We are always in need of adoptive homes for dogs, cats, and other animals," said Lorilyn Shandor, chief executive officer, Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. “We were seeing an increase in adoptions early into the pandemic as people had more time at home.â€
Kent State's Veterinary Technology program has been onsite working with the animals for more than five years. Last year, Kent State Trumbull opened a Veterinary Technology laboratory that resembles a mini-veterinary clinic inside the shelter, offering radiology, laboratory, surgery, and a pharmacy.
It is a great and growing partnership, said Melissa Best, Veterinary Technology Program Director, Kent State. “The animals have access to care through our staff veterinarian Dr. (Kelly) Johnson and our students, and of course, our students are gaining valuable hands-on experience.â€
American Humane developed Adopt-A-Dog Month in 1981 and has celebrated it every October since.
