Laurie Barcus
Biography
Laurie Barcus has been a nurse since 1989. She has practiced in a variety of settings including: Labor and Delivery & Obstetrical Nursing for 14 years, and Union Hospital’s Emergency Department for 12 years.
Her primary areas of interest includes obstetrical and emergency nursing. In her educational role, Laurie educates individuals in the associate degree nursing program. She also teaches Medical Terminology online.
Community:
In addition to her teaching, Laurie’s service to her profession and community is marked by over 20 years of serving on several committees and volunteering with various professional and community service organizations.
Personal Note:
I love teaching and mentoring nursing students. There is nothing like seeing the light come on when it finally makes sense to them why they are doing what they do. I enjoy sharing my nursing knowledge and 26 years of staff nursing experience with the students in the clinical setting. I am an advocate for my students and do everything I can to help them become a successful Nurse.
