Biography
LaDarrius Steele serves as the Senior Director of the Upward Bound Classic Academy and Educational Opportunity Centers at Â鶹´«Ã½ within the division of University Outreach and Engagement. As a proud first-generation college graduate, LaDarrius draws from his personal experiences to create student-centered programs that break down barriers and open doors to post-secondary education. His mission is to empower underserved students and adults, equipping them with the tools and confidence needed to succeed academically and personally.
Position
In his role as Senior Director, LaDarrius leads two federally funded programs that serve first-generation, low-income students and community members. His work involves designing and managing programs that support college access, career readiness, and long-term success. LaDarrius emphasizes innovative approaches to ensure students and participants are prepared for every step of their educational and professional journeys
Experience
LaDarrius' journey into educational leadership began after starting his career in business. Volunteering to support underserved communities—coordinating free college tours and participating in report card conferences—sparked a passion for bridging gaps in education. This experience inspired his transition into educational leadership, where he now leads transformative programs at Â鶹´«Ã½. As a member of EOC Ohio TRIO, NEOCA, and the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA), LaDarrius actively contributes to advancing access and equity in education.
