Larry Purnell loves learning new things, especially from a different perspective. This year he recently started golfing innaddition, his hobbies include playing chess, baking, and fishing. Larry graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and has a passion for advocating for underrepresented communities.

Position

In his role, he provides web support for the University of Outreach and Engagement. Resolving website issues and content layout updates for the Prison Reentry Program and Liberation Learners. Within the Prison Reentry Program, Larry coordinates the intake process of all applicants via phone calls, email, and walk-ins. His role entails coordinating tabling events and performing administrative office duties including scanning documents, performing data management tasks, and organizing participant files.

Experience

Prior to this role, Larry worked as a communications assistant for the Northeast Ohio Auto Dealers Association. During his undergraduate studies, he worked at Singleton & Partners as a 4 Hope Youth Ambassador in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. During this time, Larry collaborated with local black-owned mental health non-profit organizations to execute three youth mental health summits.
