Travel Study
To complement the course offerings on our campuses in Ohio, the School of Art offers a variety of travel study opportunities. Each program is designed to enhance the student's learning experience by modeling professional practice, museum study, and other cultural experiences.
Travel study trips to New York City are offered every spring and fall semester in studio art and every fall semester in art history. Other domestic destinations—like New Orleans, Chicago, Washington D.C., or San Juan—may also be offered depending on geopolitical circumstances and faculty initiatives.
Several international travel options are offered in art history, with destinations ranging from Paris, Rome, or London (in development as the pandemic progresses).
Every summer, the Florence Summer Institute offers art history courses. Students can also take upper-division studio art courses and study art history for an entire semester in Florence, Italy. Students must be enrolled full-time with Kent State courses while studying abroad. Special art courses will be taught on Kent State's Florence campus as well as Kent Core courses.
