College of the Arts Faculty Shine at University Honors Banquet

College of the Arts faculty members were recognized by Â鶹´«Ã½ at the Honors Banquet held on April 24, 2024. This banquet recognizes faculty, staff and students for their many contributions and whose accomplishments help to lift the university to greater heights.

Dr. Yuko Kurahashi, Ph. D., professor of Theatre (undergraduate), School of Theatre and Dance received an Excellence in Graduate/Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award. This award is intended to honor faculty members who effectively guide and support students through undergraduate or graduate research, scholarship or artistic productions and assist students in attaining and exceeding their goal.

Eric Kildow, associate professor, Theatre, Trumbull Campus received the Faculty Service-Learning Award, which recognizes faculty members who are exemplars at creating high-impact community engagement experiences, such as experiential learning and service-oriented courses, community-based research opportunities, and other similar academic offerings.

Two College of the Arts faculty members received the 2023 President's Faculty Excellence Award. Jay Dorfman, Ph.D., professor, Glauser School of Music and Linda Ohrn-McDaniel, professor, School of Fashion received the award based for service during the 2022-23 academic year.

In addition, faculty members Joseph Underwood, Ph.D., associate professor, School of Art and Jihyun Vick, Ph.D., professor, School of Fashion were recently informed that they are the recipients of the 2024 President’s Faculty Excellence Awards (for service during the 2023-24 academic year). They will be recognized at next year’s University Honors Banquet to be held in the 2025 Spring Semester.

About The President's Faculty Excellence Award

The President's Faculty Excellence Award was created to recognize exceptional performance by a faculty member that leads to the achievement of national or international recognition. National or international recognition may be demonstrated in research, teaching and/or service. Tenured and tenure-track faculty members in all disciplines and from all campuses were eligible based on recommendations to department chairs and deans.
