About Us
Counseling and Psychological Services is dedicated to student success and retention by facilitating wellness and personal growth based on the unique needs of the student. Counseling and Psychological Services provides confidential mental health services to students, including: crisis intervention; individual, couples and group therapy; psychological testing; and substance abuse evaluation and treatment. Our staff works collaboratively with DeWeese Health Center medical and psychiatric providers to address medication needs.
In addition, consultation and education are provided for parents, faculty and staff within the university community who have concerns about the well-being of a student. Workshops and seminars can be provided upon request. Common presenting problems include: difficulty with adjustment to college, academic issues, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, body image concerns, eating disorders, sexuality, self-injurious behaviors and substance-related issues.
Counseling and Psychological Services is staffed by licensed psychologists and counselors, as well as psychology fellows and graduate interns who are supervised by licensed clinicians. Our psychologists have training and expertise in general mental health concerns among college students and have additional expertise in their respective specialties.
In order to schedule an appointment, please call the office at 330-672-2487 during regular business hours. Students will be asked to provide general information about their presenting concerns so they can be scheduled appropriately. At peak times during the academic year, there may be a wait to access our services.
