Lifelong Learning offers credit and non-credit workshops and conferences designed to help you stay ahead of the curve in your career development.
Professionals in all types of fields attend our programs to learn the latest trends, maintain credentials and get the hands-on training necessary for furthering their careers. Lifelong Learning Workshops are credit or non-credit activities that focus on professional tasks. They are characterized by cutting-edge topics, innovative formats, and unconventional scheduling. They are also characterized by flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and over-university breaks.
Participants who successfully complete credit-bearing workshops earn graduate-level University credits (usually one, two, or three, depending on the workshop). Grading is on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Although non-credit workshops do not offer university credit, they may provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that are required in some professions.

Lifelong Learning offers a variety of workshops in education, library science, art education, and other areas. Credit workshops, like for-credit continuing education courses, meet university and Ohio Board of Regents standards for contact hours and out-of-class time and adhere to the cost per credit hour set by the University Board of Trustees. Participants in credit workshops are evaluated according to the instructor's detailed criteria. Those who successfully complete credit-bearing workshops will be granted university credits. Non-credit workshops are not part of the University fee structure.
Please note: Tuition and distance learning fee is current at the time of publishing.
A confirmation letter and any pre-assignments will be sent via email two weeks before the workshop.
Additional Credit Registration Information
All currently enrolled students are assigned a Kent State email account, which is the official University means of communication. Students are responsible for all information sent to them via their university-assigned accounts. Please check your email often through FlashLine. Log in to FlashLine and click on the profile image to access the Secure Account Access links from the My Profile page to view and update additional email addresses.
If you haven't received a confirmation letter, please email lifelonglearning@kent.edu or call our office at 330-672-3100.
A parking permit is required to park on campus. If you do not have a parking permit, you may purchase your permit at the time of registration or by coming to our office before the workshop.
Non-credit continuing education courses in the form of workshops help you learn new skills for personal or professional development or explore a topic of interest. From time to time, professional development opportunities are also available through conferences.
