Admission Requirements and Curriculum for Radiologic Technology

Minimum requirements: please read Radiologic Technology Information Packet for details:

  • Graduation from high school or successful completion of a GED exam
  • Algebra with a grade of “C” or better
  • Biology or Anatomy and Physiology with a grade of “C” or better
  • Chemistry with a grade of “C” or better
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.75 from current transcript
  • Four hours of job shadowing
  • Complete one Information Session within 2 years of application deadline-Feb 1st

Developmental Courses based on ACT scores and Accuplacer test that determine placement in reading, writing, and math. These include Core and Critical Reading Strategies, Introduction to College Writing and Pre-Algebra, Basic Algebra I-I.

General Education Courses: The following general education courses may be taken prior to program admission or during the program:

  • UC    10097    Destination Kent State: First Year Experience
  •  *BSCI 11010 & 11020, Foundational Anatomy & Physiology I and II (3 credits each)
    Or BSCI 21010 and 21020, Anatomy & Physiology I and II (4 credits each). These courses must have been taken within 5 years of program admission.
  • CHEM    10050 Fundamentals of Chemistry or CHEM 10055, Molecules of Life
  • ENG    11011    College Writing I or ENG 11002 College Writing I Stretch
  • HED    14020    Medical Terminology or AHS 24101 Medical Terminology 
  • MATH    11009 Modeling Algebra or MATH 10772 Modeling Algebra Plus
  • PSYC    11762    General Psychology
  • One Kent Core Humanity or Fine Arts Course-see Kent Core List

Recommended General Education Courses

  • BSCI 10001    Human Biology if only one biology course or one with a C or lower.
  • CHEM    10030    Chemistry in Our World if no high school chemistry or one with a C or lower in high school or college.

 Radiologic Technology Course Sequence

  • Summer: Intro to Radiologic Technology, Radiologic Procedures I, Clinical Ed I
  • Fall: Patient Care, Imaging Equipment, Rad. Procedures II, Clinical Ed II, *A&P I
  • Spring: Image Acquisition & Processing, Rad Procedures III, Clinical Ed. III, *A&P II
  • Summer: Clinical Education IV (includes 1 class day on campus), Advanced Imaging
  • Fall: Imaging Physics, Radiobiology/Rad Protection, Clinical Ed V
  • Spring:  Rad. Pathology, Clinical Ed VI and Rad.Techniques (elective)
