Semester Ahead
During the first week of the Columbus program, you will participate in a three-day colloquium on the Kent campus. Here, you will learn about writing for political analysis, the basics of fiscal analysis, how to give an elevator speech, tips on public speaking, and formal etiquette for banquets and political events. You’ll meet with your roommates and work out a roommate agreement for your semester living together.
You will move into shared apartments in Columbus the following week. In a typical week, students will attend briefings and a class held in the Statehouse on Monday and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays you will work at an internship in your chosen field for a minimum of twenty-four hours a week.
