Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

Physical activity is essential to fighting obesity, and scientists are constantly working to make this activity more effective and beneficial.
The 鶹ý Foundation Grant Program will award up to $100,000 for the 2017-2018 Academic Year as part of its annual request for proposals. Funding will be available to departments, schools, colleges, institutes and centers universitywide.
Fall 2016 marks the first semester of newly added CashCourse workshops at 鶹ý. The Bursar’s Office piloted the program in the spring and has expanded its selection for the fall term. University Bursar Stina Olafsdottir registered Kent State with CashCourse three years ago and has been growing the program since.
CashCourse provides online resources targeted to college students with information on a variety of topics such as budgeting, ways to manage federal student loans, banking, insurance and salary negotiation.
Two-way traffic has been restored to Summit Street throughout the construction zone. Johnston Drive also is open to motorists.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ý in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
